FAE x Milly and Wolf Vintage

FAE x Milly and Wolf Vintage
At FAE we have always been lovers Vintage fashion, forever drawing inspiration from 80’s and 90’s. Whether we’re layering an oversized vintage tee over a bikini for a day at the beach or rocking pair of Levi’s with a classic one piece for a night out, we’re always looking for ways to re-invent our swim looks for the warmer months ahead. The Australian Summer is just around the corner, so it was only fitting we caught up with our good friend Amelia Dubois, founder and creative director of Milly and Wolf Vintage. We chatted about everything, from sustainability to being a young successful business owner and how she’s styling her FAE pieces this Summer.
Have you always had a passion for vintage clothing? When did you decide to follow this passion and how did you set about starting your own independent business?

My love and appreciation for vintage clothing grew much deeper during my career change in my mid 20’s. Working in the fashion industry is where
I became fascinated by the current trends at that time replicating styles particularly of the 90’s. This sparked a flame within me to hunt down the real deal! In search of one-off, one-of-a-kind authentic vintage, my passion for thrifting became an outlet for me to curate, create and share my vintage finds with the world… In this very moment, Milly & Wolf Vintage was born.

The essence of Milly and Wolf Vintage is based on hand-selecting highly sought after vintage denim and tees. How important is sustainability to you and the process of up-cycling, and re-working these one-of-a-kind pieces?

Our pre-loved vintage was made to last a lifetime! We rework and up-cycle our vintage to stay relevant with today’s trends, yet we do so in the in the most sustainable way possible with recycled-fashion. We are proud to operate as a small, independent and sustainable business. We think it is extremely important to buy second-hand and choose quality over price. It is an estimated 85% of all textiles that end up in landfill per year and it can take 200+ years for the materials to decompose. This has a huge impact on the environment and inspires us to encourage/promote sustainable fashion one vintage piece at a time.

As a young female business owner what advice would you give to younger girls who dream of running their own business one day?

As cliche as this may sound… Find something you love and create your dream job! There’s a business idea in every little or big passion you may have. Go for gold baby!

How are you styling your Milly and Wolf Vintage pieces this Summer?

This summer it’s all about denim and kinis!! Bright colours paired back with your vintage blues… Chuck on a cap or bucket hat and off you go!

Where are you spending your Summer this year and which FAE pieces will you be wearing ?

You will find me anywhere from Byron Bay to Mollymook this Summer and I will be wearing my all time, forever favourite Maven Top, paired back with the Split Skirt in Caprice. I cannot go past any style in the colour Guava!!! The Birdie Bottoms in particular - hello tie sides!
